Meet Our Family
Troy and Julia were married in 1998 and lived in Jewell County for 4 years before moving to their farm near Perth Kansas in south central Kansas. They have two children, Sammie and Trey.
Sammie is a sophmore at Caldwell High school entering her 10th year in 4H. She continues to be involved in Volleyball, Baskeball, Track, school play, KAYS, Scholars Bowl, math relays, Caldwell/Corbin UMYF group, and helps around the farm when able. Along with being busy in school and church, she has been able to grow her herd to 9 cow/calf pairs. Every year she has at least 1 heifer and steer she shows at the county fair and when ever we can get to any other shows.
Trey is an eight grader this year at Caldwell Middle school and is entering his 8th year in 4H. He and his best friend Jadon Brown have had a wheat test plot for the last five years. This year’s plot was a bin buster, a lot different then the previous year’s disaster. They again made it to the state fair with their test plot display and are learning more and more each year. He is involved in Football, Basketball, Track, math relays, scholars bowl, the Caldwell/Corbin UMYF group, and works on the farm whenever he has the time. He also has grown his cow herd to include 9 cow/calf pairs. His experiment with Embryo Transfer last year was a success and will have several of those to enter into his herd this year as well.
Troy is very busy with his farming operation. He served on the Corbin UMC trustee board, a 4h project leader, and the Sumner County Fair Board. He enjoys working with the kids in their 4h projects. Julia is busy keeping everyone where they need to be. She has just completed her term as the Lay leader of the Corbin UMC. She is still on the church board, a member of the Sumner County Fair Board, 4h Community Leader and now on the Kansas Fairs and Festivals Board.
